Welcome to Montana, a state known for wide-open spaces, national icons, friendly small towns and wildlife. And while Big Sky Country is home to iconic places and spaces, it’s also home to Flathead Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake in the West.
Bigfork, Montana – which is where Saddlehorn is located – sits right on the northeast corner of Flathead Lake. Known as the village by the bay, Bigfork provides year-round views of Flathead Lake, as well as views of the surrounding mountain landscapes. Home to around 5,000 people, Bigfork has a small town vibe, but numerous amenities – shops, banks, stores, restaurants, watering holes, etc. – that make living here easy.

From our mountainside community at Saddlehorn, it’s easy for our homeowners to get to the lake to enjoy all it has to offer. The Saddlehorn Marina has an open-to-the-public restaurant and watersport rental offerings, making it easy to simply spend time enjoying what life on the lake has to offer. In addition to the marina, Saddlehorn homeowners have access to our private Saddlehorn Boathouse, located right next door. The Boathouse offers easy access to the water, a private beach, areas for lounging, recreation and more.
While Flathead Lake rarely freezes over, summer is definitely the most popular time of year to play on the lake. The time of year is noted by long sunshine filled days, on-the-water recreation (you’ll see everything from boating to sailing and stand-up-paddleboarding to fishing and kayaking) and a vibe that makes you want to enjoy all the season has to offer.
No matter the time of year, views of Flathead Lake can be found in abundance from Saddlehorn, as well as many places in and around the lake, including state parks, public access sites, restaurants and more.
